Guvon Academy is proud to launch an international Food Safety in Catering short learning programme accredited by Highfield Qualifications in the UK. This is not a South African programme so does not bear credits on the SA NQF but rather in the UK, and is endorsed by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency and complies with the minimum standard for shipboard personnel.

The short learning programme in Food Safety in Catering teaches candidates how to take personal responsibility for food safety, the correct procedures for maintaining a hygienic work environment and how to identify and control common risks to food safety.
All catering businesses have a legal responsibility to train their staff in matters of food hygiene. A high standard of food safety protects consumers’ health and helps to maintain the reputation of the business. The certification of your staff would also be beneficial for health and safety audits.

Learning areas include:
• Microbiological hazards;
• Spoilage and preservation;
• Food poisoning and its control;
• Food handlers and personal hygiene;
• Food premises and equipment;
• Food pests and control;
• Cleaning and disinfection;
• HACCP from purchase to service;
• Food safety law and enforcement.

This interactive, one day, learning programme is presented on Tuesday, 6 August 2019.

Certification is a Guvon Academy Short Learning Programme Certificate and the International Food Safety Award.
The Guvon Academy one-day short learning programme will include the food safety handbook, refreshments and the international examination fee.
